​​​The Troppo Shorty originally called the Pineapple Troppo combines elements of The Pineapple Express shortboard and Troppo Step up models. Developed with my Brother Tristan, we went through many iterations of this model to get it right.

 

The Troppo Shorty is inspired by the boards most tour surfers ride. It has quite a bit of rocker in the tail, low rails, pulled in plan shape and rounded pin tail. Most of these attributes come from the Troppo, but we combined the relatively deep single concave bottom contour from the Pineapple Express to give it quite a bit more speed and hold on rail.

Its point of difference though is that it packs quite a lot of volume considering how refined it is in the rail. The foam is very well hidden, mostly in the chest area and all along the stringer line (see set dims with increased thickness). As it has a very low rail this gives it a very domed deck. This extra foam has made it popular with older blokes that still want a full blown HP shorty but are needing the extra volume as they age.

 

It is a very good carving boards for the points with its increased tail rocker and a very good tube board too, with foam to get you over the ledge. It is made to be surfed in 4-6ft reefs and beachies. Round pin tail only and thruster fin configuration.

 

If you have enjoyed the Golden boy in your younger years but now finding it a little too sensitive and refined, this is the natural progression, with a bit more focus on open face carves than attacks at the lip.
